We offer Full service guiding in the tradition of the Old World.  Our special use permit, administered by the U.S. Forest service and the B.L.M. allows us to guide in a vast area encompassing  40 square miles and 12 peaks over 12,000 feet. Included in this area are: the superb storm skiing areas of Cement Creek near Silverton Mountain, the couloir country in between Silverton and Telluride, and new this season, Mount Kendall. “I choose to guide here because  of the ease of access and the extraordinary quality of the  terrain.”

Safety is our first priority. Although our guides are  not certified by the  AMGA, Mountain Goat requires that our lead guides be certified in Wilderness First Response, have completed an Avalanche level 2 course, and have no less than five  years of professional guiding experience. Our guides dig regular snow pits, keep winter-long written log books of weather, snow stability and avalanche observations, and execute timed beacon drills and practice rescues. We offer Custom Tours. Whether you are new to backcountry and want to learn the basics,  are experienced and want to learn new skills, or want to ski excellent terrain with a guide, we can plan an unforgettable ski day suited to your style.

your teenagers.

All tours begin with gear check, safety briefing and avalanche equipment review.

       Guests are responsible for adequate clothing, snacks and water. Rental gear

is available including: skis, skins, beacon, shovel, probe, poles  and snowshoes.
